Ross Collins, Childrens Illustrator

How did I come to be interested in the work of a childrens book illustrator you ask? well this summer I tried out treeplanting for the first time and ended up sucking at it. What does this have to do with anything you ask? Well let me finish! Because I ended up sucking at treeplanting I also ended up broke. Which gave cause for me to move back home and also to be sharing a room with not only my older brother but also his two kids three nights of the week. So today while enjoying the warmth a good cafe mocha in my shared attic room slash studio area I glanced down at the carpet to find one of my childhood picturebooks. I picked it up and began to be nostalgic by flipping through, underneath this book was what this blog is really about. Underneath that childhood picturebook was a book called "Jack and the Dreamsack". I was intrigued by the stylized and colorful cover. So i wasted some more time by flipping through it's pages. Not since I was ten have I been so fascinated and inspired by the illustrations in a book. After some investigation on the internet I found out that the illustrator was a scottish born man by the name of Ross Collins. In fact I even began to sketch from his work later, in hope to learn from him. That's what's great about life as an artist isn't it? You never know where your next inspiration could come from.
